We’ve had a couple of weeks of responding landlord questions regarding aspects to do with the design, installation, structure and how it will ultimately look – and rightly so, given the nature of the building. It’s also meant that we’ve had to think very carefully about how we will approach this, and plan accordingly.
As we learn more about the site, it’s history, and the needs of the landlord, and as we also develop a closer relationship with the members of the local community who have been supporting our proposal, and with whom we hope to have a good long-term relationship, we find ourselves becoming more and more personally invested. Not that we weren’t already, only this is somewhat different to what was expected, because there’s a cultural, historical and personal aspect, which goes well beyond this being a mere transmitter site.
Being local ourselves, and also involved in not-for-profit local/community radio to serve the people of Basingstoke, we already operate with the needs of our local communities in mind. In many ways, this site installation is of similar ethos, as it’s a community within the area we serve who are providing us with the permission to use their site, so it’s important we respect this privilege and ensure that we do our utmost to meet there needs too.
With that all in mind, Alan from Commtronix has come up with yet another innovative design that fits the bill perfectly, and will ensure that our installation should fit into the environment.
We’re keeping it under wraps for now, but all will be revealed in time…
